Department of Health and Human Services Dispute Resolution Services Program

 

Community Mediation Services provide statewide mediation, facilitation and conflict coaching to clients, service providers and employees of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Under the Rights of Recipients of Mental Health Services Who Are Children in Need of Treatment, mediation services are provided to parties who elect mediation under the Department's grievance process.

If all parties to the dispute agree to mediation, our coordinator will arrange a session. Skilled mediators structure the discussion and set groundrules for safety and equality. Each party has an opportunity to be heard and the mediators help the parties to try to reach a workable agreement that is their own.

Mediations are held on-site at our mediation center, or, if necessary, held at an alternate location convenient and accessible to all parties.
